Short Term Disability Benefit
Percentage & Maximum of Benefit:
60% of gross weekly Earnings, rounded to the next $1, if not already a multiple, up to a maximum of $1,500. The maximum amount under this Benefit cannot be lower than the maximum benefit payable under the Employment Insurance Act for the plan to be eligible under the Employment Insurance Premium Reduction Program.

Elimination Period:
In case of Accident: expiry of the Employer’s sick leave plan
In case of Illness: expiry of the Employer’s sick leave plan
In case of Hospitalization: expiry of the Employer’s sick leave plan
Payment Basis:
7 days (calendar)
Maximum Benefit Period:
117 days, or the end of the Elimination Period for the Long Term Disability Benefit, whichever is earlier. However, if the Participant reaches Age 65 during the course of such a period, the Maximum Benefit Period for such disability may not exceed 117 days.
Benefit Termination
Age Limit:
Age 65 of the Participant, or retirement whichever occurs first.
Long Term Disability Benefit
Percentage & Maximum of Benefit:
60% of the first $7,500 of gross monthly Earnings and 50% of the balance, rounded to the next $1, if not already a multiple, up to a maximum of $10,000.
Non-Evidence Maximum of Insurability:
$10,000
Elimination Period:
117 calendar days or expiration of benefits under the Employer’s sick leave plan to a maximum of 120 sick leave days, whichever is later.
Maximum Benefit Period:
The date the Participant is eligible for a full unreduced pension, or the end of the month in which the Participant reaches age 65 or 35 years of pensionable service, less the Elimination Period, or retirement, whichever is earlier.

The date the Participant is eligible for a full unreduced pension, or the end of the month in which the Participant reaches age 65 or 35 years of pensionable service, less the Elimination Period, or retirement, whichever is earlier.
